Gary Campo
Gary has been a member of the British Columbia bar since August 2001. He advises aboriginal governments on aboriginal title and rights including forestry and fishery related issues, the duty of consultation, constitutional law, reserve land use, leasing, taxation and employment law. Gary has also worked on the leading aboriginal title and rights case in British Columbia Tsilhqot'in Nation v. British Columbia, Victoria Registry, 90 0913 for the past 5 years. Gary has served on the National Executive of the Canadian Bar Association Aboriginal Law Section for the past 4 years and he is currently serving on the Executive of the Vancouver Island Aboriginal Law Section. Gary is also actively involved with the Law Society of British Columbia, through special working groups, to identify and eliminate discriminatory barriers facing Aboriginal law students and lawyers. Gary also served as the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law, Native Law Students Association Vice President, Treasurer and Co-President in 1997, 1998 and 1999, respectively. He also is the recipient of the National Aboriginal Achievement Award, the Keith B. Jobson Award and the Chief Michael Underwood Award for leadership, community interest and academic excellence with respect to Aboriginal issues.
