Lawyer

A lawyer at Woodward and Company, Leah’s primary areas of practice span governance, policy and legislative development, treaty implementation, land management, employment law, and human rights. She is dedicated to working in partnership with Indigenous legal traditions and upholding Indigenous laws and governance systems.

Leah holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Victoria and a law degree from McGill University, where she obtained a joint civil and common law degree (B.C.L/LL.B.) in McGill’s bilingual law program. During her law studies, she completed an interdisciplinary field course on Haudenosaunee law in Kahnawake, Quebec and a community-based field course on W̱SÁNEĆ law on W̱SÁNEĆ territories, British Columbia. She is a member of both the British Columbia and Yukon bars.

Before joining Woodward and Company as a lawyer in 2022, Leah was a summer student at the firm in 2018 and an articled student in 2019. Prior to joining the Woodward team, she worked at a human rights commission and practised family law at a Vancouver Island firm.

Throughout her work, Leah is deeply committed to using the law as a tool for justice and empowerment for Indigenous peoples, and collaborating with Indigenous communities to achieve their goals.
