Woodward is seeking a highly qualified Human Resources Director to join its dedicated and proficient team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in Human Resources and exhibit a thorough understanding of the discipline’s place within Indigenous organizational contexts.

Role Overview

What You’ll Do

  • Develops and implements HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the Firm’s overall
    business strategy.
  • Oversees the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of top talent to meet the Firm’s staffing needs.
  • Manages performance appraisal systems, compensation, and benefits administration.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Advises senior management on HR matters, including organizational structure, workforce planning, and employee relations.
  • Designs and leads employee engagement, training, and development programs.
  • Handles complex employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintains and updates HR policies and procedures.
  • Oversees HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and measure HR effectiveness.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the Firm.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is preferred.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that support Firm goals in a fast paced and growth-oriented environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and data analytics.
  • Strong problem-solving and resourcefulness using good decision making or judgement.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced use and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft 365 application (Teams, OneNote, and OneDrive).
  • Experience working with Indigenous nations, communities, businesses, or organizations would be considered an asset.

We offer a salary range of $100,000 to $130,000 per year (with consideration for education and experience), plus a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental, vacation and RRSP contributions, wellness, and professional development.

Woodward offers flexibility with a hybrid work model. We anticipate a full-time in-office presence throughout the first 3-to-6 months for someone working in this position.
