Quw’utsun (Cowichan) Nation Chiefs Sulsulxumaat (Cindy Daniels), Cowichan Tribes, and Laxele’wuts’aat (Shana Thomas), Lyackson First Nation, along with David M. Robbins, lead counsel, recently spoke with APTN Investigates about the Quw’utsun Nation’s landmark court victory recognizing their Aboriginal title to lands of their historic settlement at Tl’uqtinus in present-day Richmond. The Cowichan decision addresses British Columbia’s wrongful taking and transfer of these lands historically and affirms the Quw’utsun Nation’s longstanding connection to their homelands and fishing grounds along the south arm of the Fraser River (i.e., the Quw’utsun River).
