Chris Macleod

Assistant: Sasha Williams

In his role as a lawyer at Woodward and Company, Chris’ work centres around governance and land management. Since 2011, he has worked extensively with First Nations on land management and development issues.

Chris is originally from Winnipeg but grew up in Mississauga and Dallas, Texas. Bolstered by a bachelor’s degree in political science, he earned his law degree from the University of Texas and a masters in Indigenous governance from the University of Victoria. He was called to the BC and Yukon bars in 2020.

Before joining the firm as an articled student in 2019 and then as a lawyer in 2020, Chris dedicated nearly a decade working for Yukon First Nations as a policy analyst and consultant on governance, land management, land title, and environmental assessment.

Driven by the belief that Indigenous communities with strong institutions are the ablest defenders of their own rights and interests, Chris is committed to helping Indigenous governments develop legal and administrative tools to protect their communities and traditional territories.
