He/Him

Julian pursued a career in law to gain the knowledge, skills, and capacity to make a positive impact on his community and others like it. The opportunity to engage in this meaningful work every day is what ultimately led him to W&Co.

Julian has represented First Nations, businesses, and individuals on both sides of the Canada–U.S. border in a range of commercial, corporate, and governance matters. He has been involved in the negotiation and drafting of a variety of natural resource and economic development agreements for First Nations and regularly advises on corporate governance frameworks, including their development, implementation, and compliance. He also advises clients on dispute resolution matters and has a background in litigation, including commercial, rights-based, and criminal matters. A significant focus of Julian’s work is supporting First Nations in governance, including drafting and developing laws and policies, advancing governance structures, building institutional capacity, and advising on employment-related matters.

Julian holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA in Urban and Regional Studies from the University of Lethbridge. He also completed the Program of Legal Studies for Native People at the University of Saskatchewan and later received a Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Julian maintains several pro bono and volunteer roles, including serving as an Advisor for the International Buffalo Relations Institute, as a member of the Government of Alberta’s Access to Justice through an Indigenous Lens Committee, and on the Community Priorities Grants Committee for the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta.
