Josh Boutin

Assistant: Delaney Grainger

A lawyer at Woodward and Company, Josh’s primary area of practice is Aboriginal rights and title litigation. Throughout the course of his work, he is deeply committed to using the law as a tool to empower Indigenous peoples and work towards reconciliation and decolonization.

Born and raised in the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation (in what is now Nanaimo), Josh obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history from Vancouver Island University. He then went on to attend law school at the University of Ottawa, graduating Cum Laude in 2021 with the option in social justice law.

During his time at law school, Josh worked closely with multiple First Nations communities on a variety of legal issues. He also volunteered with the ID Project through the Ottawa Mission, helping the homeless and marginally housed obtain essential identification documentation. He has since become a member of the B.C. Bar and has been practicing as a lawyer at Woodward and Company since 2022.
